Special Treatment Concerning the Submission of Priority Documents (Hague international design registrations designating Japan)

The Japan Patent Office (JPO) published a notice regarding special treatment concerning the submission of Priority Documents (Hague international design registrations designating Japan) on October 28, 2016. The details are as follows.

JPO, at the request of the International Bureau of the World Intellectual Property Organization, hereby is giving special treatment to the holders of the international design registrations under the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement, to allow them an additional opportunity to submit priority documents for their registered designs. Please note that the JPO will accept the submission of a priority document under this special treatment, only if such priority documents are submitted to the JPO within three months from the date of this notice, in other words, by January 30, 2017 at the latest.

The JPO is sending individual notices either directly to the holders or, where applicable, to their local representatives in Japan whose registered designs are eligible for this special treatment.
